How to Start Accepting Your Body - Part I

How to Start Accepting Your Body - Part I

Have you ever let summer fly by with very little visits to the pool, beach, or lake? All because you did not feel confident with your body and did not want to be seen in a bathing suit?

Or maybe you did get yourself to the public pool but sat in your clothes or cover-up, sweating in the sweltering heat, watching your kids splash and cool off, and wishing you could do the same.

Why can’t you?

Why are you hiding under clothes or a cover-up?

Is it because you told yourself that in order to reveal your body in a bathing suit you have to be X size or lose X amount of pounds?

In my Intuitive Eating & Body Compassion Community on Facebook, I’m doing live videos where I tackle a few action steps we can take to start accepting and appreciating the body we have NOW. We need to stop pressuring ourselves into believing we need to lose weight in order to wear a bathing suit, a dress, wear clothes we love and feel great, have fun on an awesome vacation, workout in a group with others, and pretty much enjoy life.

In Part I, I talk about the need to stop comparing our own body to the bodies of other people in our lives. We are all unique shapes and sizes. Our bodies are determined by genetics. When we try to fight what we were born with we are only going to be miserable and losing an uphill battle.

I also discuss how we need to stop pursuing weight loss (on again, off again mentality) and hoping for weight loss to happen “one day”. If we continue to hold weight loss on a pedestal and believe the prize at the end is happiness and everything falling into place, we will only be greatly disappointed when we lose the weight yet discover we still have the same problems and struggles in life that we had in a larger size.

and what you struggle with most when it comes to body acceptance!!
